Apollo develops tyres with 75% Sustainable Materials

Apollo Tyres, one of the leading tyre manufacturers, has created tyres made of 75% sustainable materials. This is consistent with Apollo Tyres’ sustainability roadmap, which calls for a 40% increase in the use of sustainable raw materials by 2030.

Agriculture tyres containing 75% sustainable materials include 9 featured compounding ingredients in various tyre components. This includes recycled rubber, recycled carbon black from used tyres, bio-based oil, recycled nylon, and bead wire with higher recycled content. In addition, the base polymers used in this tyre are GPSNR certified and made from the bio-circular feedstock.

Speaking on the concept of tyres, P K Mohamed, Chief Advisor, R&D, Apollo Tyres Ltd, said “This is a big milestone in the sustainability journey of Apollo Tyres. Being the early movers in this space, especially in India, and with investments in R&D and Manufacturing towards achieving the 40% sustainable material target by 2030, we have been able to develop this tyre with 75% sustainable materials, which is now being tested extensively before being commercialised.”
