Woodoo, a French technology start-up established in 2017, has announced raising $31 million in funding, with Lowercarbon Capital leading the round. Lowercarbon Capital was co-founded by former Google executive and early Twitter investor Chris Sacca.
Using its proprietary engineering platform, Woodoo’s technology is capable of converting low-grade and diseased wood products into high-quality, advanced materials. This conversion occurs through lignin engineering at the molecular level, and the company sources substandard feedstock locally. Woodoo claims that its materials can be utilized to create luxury goods, surfaces, and panels.
