Leading Corporations Including Apple, Amazon, Meta, Nike, PepsiCo Back The Clean Energy Procurement Academy for Clean Energy Access

The Clean Energy Procurement Academy has been introduced with backing from Apple, Amazon, Meta, Nike, PepsiCo, and REI Co-op. Its purpose is to provide companies with the necessary skills and knowledge to access clean energy. This groundbreaking initiative, initiated by Apple and Nike through the Clean Energy Buyers Institute (CEBI), has garnered support from Amazon, Meta, PepsiCo, and REI Co-op in order to create and implement the Academy.

The primary goal of the Academy is to expedite the integration of clean energy into global supply chains. It will offer a combination of in-person and online training, along with comprehensive educational materials, to achieve the following:

  1. Enhance the ability of supply chain companies to invest in renewable energy by offering education and access to data.
  2. Foster collaboration among various industries working together to address common challenges in supply chain climate action.
  3. Encourage supply chain companies to elevate their renewable energy targets and commitments.
  4. Establish new communities for buying renewable energy in key manufacturing regions.

The Clean Energy Procurement Academy, supported by the We Mean Business Coalition, will provide valuable insights to assist other energy customer companies, supply chain partners, and regions. Through the collective efforts of these corporations and suppliers, the initiative aims to rapidly advance clean energy procurement, tackle Scope 3 emissions, and reduce carbon emissions in global supply chains.

This initiative is the flagship project of CEBI’s Global Programs, which commenced in 2022 with foundational funding from Google.org.
