H&M Group and Alight sign power purchase agreements to build 3 new solar parks in Sweden

Alight, a prominent European solar developer and independent power producer, has entered into long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with global fashion retailer H&M Group. These agreements aim to facilitate the establishment of three new solar parks in Sweden.

The solar parks, situated in Blekinge, Södermanland, and Halland, will be ground-mounted and possess capacities of 13 MW, 6 MW, and 4 MW, respectively. Construction has already commenced for the park in Blekinge, while the other two parks are scheduled to begin construction this spring. The anticipated operational date for all three parks is early 2025, providing H&M Group with a sustainable source of electricity. Following their completion, Alight will take ownership and manage the solar parks.

Collectively, these projects are expected to generate a minimum of 24 GWh of clean electricity, equivalent to the annual power consumption of over 4,800 homes. This collaboration extends the partnership established between H&M Group and Alight, which previously signed a PPA in December 2022 for the development of a 100 MW solar park in Hultsfred, Sweden. The Hultsfred project is a joint venture with the French renewable energy company Neoen.
