Home Clean Energy Startup SPAN Raises $96 Million

SPAN, a startup specializing in home electrification technology, has raised $96 million in funding to boost its research and development capabilities and expand its offerings in new categories.

The San Francisco-based company, founded in 2018, develops products that promote the adoption of clean energy in homes, such as solar, batteries, and electric vehicles.

Its flagship products, the SPAN Panel and SPAN Drive EV charger, provide customers with circuit-level management, real-time monitoring, and energy insights. SPAN aims to broaden its reach to major home appliances, smart home devices, and grid integrations.

The company plans to use the funding to set up a new research and development facility that can replicate multiple on-grid and off-grid scenarios to speed up product and feature development.

Wellington Management led the Series B financing, and other investors included Capricorn Investment Group, Qualcomm Ventures, and Amazon’s Alexa Fund. SPAN has raised $231 million in funding to date.
