Volkswagen Launches Global Climate Campaign with 1.2 Million Employees

Volkswagen Group is launching its “Project1Hour” campaign for the third consecutive year. Employees worldwide will undertake environmental and climate protection activities from 13 April to 22 April to coincide with Earth Day.

Last year, this campaign involved 300,000 Volkswagen employees worldwide, making it the world’s largest corporate climate workshop. This year, the campaign will include 500,000 Volkswagen dealership employees and 675,000 existing employees participating.

Volkswagen Group of America has initiated a recycling initiative where employees and customers can submit laptops, cell phones, batteries, and other small electronic devices for recycling. Additionally, garbage collection efforts are happening in locations such as the Herndon headquarters and Auburn Hills, where employees clean up public parks and facilities.

The software branch CARIAD aims to achieve net CO2 neutrality by 2025 and is hosting a Green Tech Week for its workers to educate them on how software can contribute to reducing CO2 emissions. This event will feature professional discussions, workshops, and digital clean-up sessions.
