Starbucks has extended its Greener Store program to 3,508 stores across 20 markets globally. This includes first-in-market Greener Stores in Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

The program is part of Starbucks’ commitment to reduce its environmental impact and work towards a more sustainable future. The Greener Stores Framework, developed with the World Wildlife Fund, comprises 25 performance-based standards focused on energy efficiency, water stewardship, and waste diversion.

Partners’ daily practices and feedback have also been crucial in the program’s success. As a result, Starbucks aims to have 10,000 Greener Stores globally by 2025.

The program has already saved the company almost $60 million in annual operating costs and has contributed to the company’s goal of reducing carbon emissions, water usage, and landfill waste by 50% by 2030. The company is now expanding the program to new regions, including Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean.

“With a company of Starbucks scale – any one action, no matter how small, has the potential for massive impact. I’m so proud to see our Greener Stores framework continue to scale for good globally. The program we have created will continue to move us closer towards our resource positive goals.”

Michael Kobori, Starbucks chief sustainability officer.
