Infosys and GE Digital have announced a strategic partnership to accelerate grid transformation in the utility sector. The two companies will collaborate to provide value-added grid-related products and services to new and existing clients.
Infosys and GE Digital will collaborate to bring solutions to the utility industry that will improve grid reliability, resilience, and sustainability. They will use an industry-leading grid orchestration software platform and AI-powered applications to bring energy data, network modelling, and AI together.
GE’s expertise in the energy sector and investment in grid equipment and platforms are combined with Infosys’ capabilities in business transformation, system integration, and advanced technology to enable efficient grid orchestration.
This collaboration builds on Infosys and GE’s 18-year relationship and adds to the innovative technology work they have already done together. Infosys will establish a GE Digital Center of Excellence to increase talent and bring best practices to service delivery.
They will also invest in accelerators to integrate the GE platform and applications into enterprise ecosystems and meet clients’ needs. To support utility transformation, Infosys will bring digital capabilities in AI, cloud, cybersecurity, and industrial IoT. The companies’ broad collaboration will enable them to bring the benefits of Information Technology and Operational Technology (IT-OT) convergence to utilities.
“With energy transition driving increasing complexity on the grid, alignment between IT and OT is becoming very important,” said, Mahesh Sudhakaran, General Manager, GE Digital Grid Software. “Our collaboration with Infosys will help accelerate the adoption of grid software that bridges these disciplines, equipping the next generation of grid operators with the tools they need to keep the grid stable, resilient, and sustainable. The utility’s ability to not only manage but also orchestrate the clean energy grid is based on a unique combination of software and partnerships for strategy development and solution execution. Infosys’ clear understanding of GE solutions and a strong commitment to leadership will enable significant productivity and service level improvements, along with critical cost efficiencies.”
“We are delighted to collaborate with GE Digital to drive the digital transformation of the electric grid, which is very important for energy transition,”said Ashiss Dash, EVP & Global Head – Services, Utilities, Resources, and Energy, Infosys. “Through our GE Digital Center of Excellence, we plan to bring product depth, scale, and service delivery best practices to this rapidly growing market. With a comprehensive understanding of utility business requirements and challenges, we look forward to leveraging our technological prowess and domain expertise to enable this transformation as part of this 360-degree collaboration.”
