The funding was led by Next Frontier Capital and saw participation from notable investors including Blackhorn Ventures, Mucker Capital, Overture, Engage, Massive, SaaS Ventures, Valo Ventures, AngelList, and Stout Street Capital.
Optera specializes in providing carbon management software that enables companies to measure and reduce the climate impacts of their operations, supply chains, and products. This funding arrives at a crucial time in the sustainability sector, coinciding with regulatory developments like the SEC and EU establishing climate disclosure rules. Businesses worldwide are actively seeking solutions to transition towards a low-carbon future and mitigate their environmental impact over the next decade.
Tim Weiss, co-founder and CEO of Optera, emphasized the importance of this transition, stating, “The biggest businesses around the globe are actively transitioning to the low-carbon economy. It is no longer a question of whether this transition will happen but whether it will happen quickly enough.”

The Series A funding will fuel Optera’s product innovation and help in scaling their solution to support the global transition to a low-carbon future. Additionally, it will contribute to the growth of their sales and marketing teams, enabling them to reach a global scale. Adrian Tuck, former CEO of clean energy technology provider Uplight, will join the board to support Optera’s further growth and development. Melissa Cheong, Managing Partner at Blackhorn Ventures, will also take on a board role, leveraging her extensive cleantech investing experience to guide Optera’s strategic direction.
