MSCI, a provider of investment data and research, has teamed up with Google Cloud to collaborate on the development of a range of innovative AI solutions tailored for the investment sector. These solutions will encompass tools designed to aid investors in evaluating portfolio climate risks and pinpointing opportunities for low-carbon investments.
This announcement signifies an expansion of the partnership established between MSCI and Google Cloud in January 2023. The initial partnership aimed to construct a cloud-native platform for acquiring and developing investment data, facilitating informed investment decisions through data insights and solutions.
As part of this extended collaboration, MSCI will leverage generative AI-driven solutions powered by Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform, along with its climate-oriented technology such as BigQuery Geospatial and Earth Engine.
Alongside the new climate-oriented solutions, the partnership will be dedicated to delivering solutions that integrate MSCI’s proprietary data and analytics with Google Cloud’s generative AI solutions. These joint efforts will provide investors with comprehensive insights into portfolio and enterprise-level risks, while simultaneously streamlining the analysis process and delivering actionable insights. Additionally, the partnership will involve using Google Cloud’s generative AI to empower MSCI’s new conversational AI solution for portfolio and risk management tools.
MSCI Chairman and CEO Henry Fernandez said:
“The AI revolution has led to rising expectations among companies and investors, who want faster access to higher-quality data, analytics, and actionable insights. Expanding our partnership with Google Cloud will help MSCI address these needs while keeping us at the forefront of advanced data technologies. It will also help us provide new solutions for investors working to decarbonize their portfolios.”
Google Cloud CEO Thomas Kurian said:
“Generative AI is driving the next evolution of financial services as investment professionals look for better and faster ways to monitor portfolios, generate new insights, and scale the speed of decision-making. Our partnership with MSCI to build generative AI-powered solutions will not only help risk and portfolio management teams better collaborate and unlock insights, but also will enable MSCI’s clients to build more climate-resilient portfolios.”
Jigar Thakkar, Chief Technology Officer at MSCI, added:
“We are excited to collaborate with Google Cloud to accelerate the development of generative AI solutions, which will aim to offer investors deeper data-driven insights, enhanced decision-making capabilities, and accelerated portfolio implementation.
