Six Climate Organisations Launch Joint Infographic on Corporate Decarbonisation Path

Six international organisations — VCMI, ICVCM, We Mean Business Coalition, CDP, Science Based Targets initiative, and the Greenhouse Gas Protocol — have jointly published an animation and infographic showing how their complementary frameworks guide companies through climate transitions. The materials were released at COP28 to help corporates identify which organisations to engage with at different stages of their decarbonisation journey.

The infographic addresses a practical challenge for companies navigating multiple climate frameworks: determining which standards apply to which phase of the corporate transition. The six organisations structured the visual around two core activities — decarbonising operations and value chains, and addressing remaining emissions with high-integrity carbon credits. The initiative reflects growing recognition that end-to-end corporate climate integrity requires engagement with both the GHG Protocol and SBTi for target-setting, and with the ICVCM and VCMI for credible carbon credit use.

The collaboration is particularly significant for large Indian corporations managing Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions disclosures under expanding regulatory requirements. India's Business Responsibility and Sustainability Reporting (BRSR) framework increasingly aligns with international disclosure standards, and clarity on which global bodies govern different aspects of the corporate climate transition helps companies avoid greenwashing risks. The infographic makes explicit that carbon credit use is permissible only as a complement to science-aligned internal decarbonisation, not as a substitute.

The organisations stated that the animation marks a first step in demonstrating how their work converges to support companies, and that they will explore further communications showing the corporate user journey across the full range of organisations. With COP28 focused partly on corporate climate commitments, the release signals a coordinated effort by the global standards community to present a unified picture of credible net-zero pathways. Further collaborative communications are expected in the months following the conference.
