Bureau Veritas Launches Platform to Validate Supplier Emissions Data at Scale

Bureau Veritas has launched Supply Chain Engagement, a new module on its AITrack sustainability platform designed to help companies collect and validate product-level emissions data from their suppliers. The tool allows organisations to integrate supplier-specific life cycle assessments, environmental product declarations and product carbon footprints into their corporate Scope 3 inventories.

Supply Chain Engagement enables companies to run customised campaigns for current or prospective suppliers, with automated invitations, reminders and progress tracking. Suppliers can submit environmental product declarations, life cycle assessments and product carbon footprints, which are automatically graded based on documentation type and verification status. Bureau Veritas acquired AITrack through its 2024 purchase of Aligned Incentives, a sustainability planning solutions provider that originally built the platform for process-based life cycle assessment across corporate product portfolios.

Supply chain emissions remain among the hardest categories to quantify accurately for most companies, with many still relying on spend-based estimates rather than supplier-specific data. Tightening regulations—including the EU's Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive and the US Securities and Exchange Commission's climate disclosure rules—are pushing companies to move beyond generic Scope 3 approximations. Bureau Veritas's new module directly addresses that gap by enabling product-specific, supplier-powered measurement, supporting more credible sustainability reporting and procurement decision-making.

Bureau Veritas intends to position AITrack as an integrated platform combining corporate footprinting, product-level life cycle analysis and now supply chain engagement, effectively offering a single system for end-to-end Scope 3 data management. The tool is designed to equip suppliers with their own LCA calculation tools, reducing the burden on buying organisations to chase data. As mandatory Scope 3 reporting requirements expand across jurisdictions, demand for vendor solutions that can automate data collection and maintain an audit trail from supplier submission through to final reporting is expected to grow significantly.
