EcoVadis launches Product Carbon Footprint data exchange for suppliers

EcoVadis introduced a Product Carbon Footprint Data Exchange within its Carbon Action Module, enabling product-level emissions reporting across its 40,000-supplier network using the PACT standard. The tool advances Scope 3 accuracy, helping Indian suppliers in global value chains meet rising customer demands for granular product emissions data.

EcoVadis launched the Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) Data Exchange within its Carbon Action Module (CAM), enabling PCF tracking across a network of 40,000 suppliers engaged in carbon reduction. The tool reports greenhouse gas emissions tied to specific products and services purchased, replacing industry averages with accurate, product-level data. It adheres to the global standard for product-level emissions accounting and exchange defined by the Partnership for Carbon Transparency (PACT), using the PACT Pathfinder Framework to advance Scope 3 emissions accuracy.

The solution affects buyers and suppliers across supply chains who previously lacked precise data to attribute a supplier's emissions to their specific purchases. Suppliers typically begin by reporting their overall footprint despite serving multiple customers with diverse products. PCF breaks down GHG emissions by product across life-cycle stages, enabling year-over-year tracking and product-level reduction measures. The CAM helps suppliers progress from Beginner and Intermediate maturity levels to the advanced stage required to initiate PCF reporting.

Organisations should use the exchange to request and collect PCF data from suppliers, compare data across networks using globally recognised standards, and identify specific reduction opportunities. Suppliers can build capability through a dedicated EcoVadis Academy course on PCF fundamentals and securely report data in compliance with PACT standards. Companies advancing their carbon maturity can adopt best practices such as life-cycle assessments, science-based targets, and public CDP reporting to support precise Scope 3 measurement and management.
