Jain Irrigation Systems Limited has commissioned an industrial-scale high-tech biochar facility in Jalgaon, Maharashtra with a capacity of approximately 20,000 tonnes per annum. The plant is among the world's largest single-unit biochar reactors.

Jain Irrigation Systems Limited (BSE: 570004 DVR, NSE: JISLDVREQS), the world's largest micro-irrigation systems provider, announced on June 3, 2026 the commissioning of a high-tech industrial-scale biochar facility in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. The facility was developed in partnership with global experts in the biochar field and has a processing capacity of more than 50 metric tonnes of agricultural and fruit processing residue per day. At approximately 20,000 tonnes per annum, the Jalgaon plant stands among the world's largest single-unit biochar reactors.

Biochar is produced by pyrolysing organic agricultural residues at high temperature in low-oxygen conditions, resulting in a stable carbon-rich material that can be applied to soils to improve fertility and water retention while locking away carbon for centuries. The Jalgaon facility processes agricultural and fruit processing residue, transforming what would otherwise be waste into a value-added product. This circular manufacturing approach aligns with Jain Irrigation's core identity as a global leader in sustainable agriculture and resource efficiency.
