Microsoft adds AI and value chain data solutions to sustainability platform

Microsoft introduced new data and AI solutions to its Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability platform, including a Copilot in Sustainability Manager and a generally available ESG value chain solution for collecting and analysing supplier data. The tools support faster ESG analytics and Scope 3 value-chain reporting, capabilities relevant to Indian companies preparing for expanded sustainability disclosure.

Microsoft announced new data and AI solutions for its sustainability platform, Microsoft Cloud for Sustainability, designed to enable faster ESG data analytics, enhance sustainability data management and reporting, and enable collection and analysis of data across the value chain. Launched in 2021, the platform helps companies record, report, reduce, and replace emissions through SaaS tools, and was later integrated with Sustainability Manager for an increasingly automated overview of emissions impact across operations and value chain.

Organisations managing ESG data and value-chain emissions are affected. New tools in preview include a sustainability data solution within AI-powered Microsoft Fabric, connecting ESG data with enterprise data for analysis, regulatory reporting, and benchmarking; Copilot in Microsoft Sustainability Manager, enabling generative AI and natural language queries; and Intelligent insights, which uses an integrated AI model for in-depth analysis of emissions data, identifying where more complete data is needed, pinpointing reduction opportunities, and refining decisions based on historical trends, seasonality, and anomalies.
