CDP Reports 83% of Companies Aligned With Majority of ISSB Climate Questions

In 2024, 83% of companies disclosing through CDP — representing more than half of global market capitalisation — reported on the vast majority of IFRS S2-aligned questions, positioning them strongly for emerging mandatory climate disclosure requirements. CDP aligned its corporate questionnaire with the ISSB's IFRS S2 standard in 2024, making it the largest single source of consistent, globally comparable ISSB-aligned climate data.

Over 24,800 companies disclosing through CDP in 2024 submitted IFRS S2-aligned data, with 83% providing responses across at least 80% of aligned questions. Governance disclosures showed the strongest compliance, with 85% of assessed companies providing full responses to governance-aligned questions and 58% providing full responses to risk management questions. However, significant gaps remain in climate-related metrics, where only 25% of companies provided complete answers to all aligned questions. Half of assessed companies responded to at least half the questions on climate scenario analysis.

CDP's 2018 alignment with TCFD recommendations was a primary driver of the mainstreaming of TCFD-aligned reporting globally, which subsequently informed mandatory disclosure regulation in multiple jurisdictions. The organisation anticipates a similar effect from its IFRS S2 alignment. Jurisdictions representing more than half of global GDP are moving toward mandatory ISSB-aligned reporting, with Brazil offering a concrete example: more than 1,100 Brazilian companies representing 86% of the country's total market capitalisation disclose through CDP, and CDP is working directly with Brazil's securities regulator CVM to support market readiness assessment.

For Indian companies, the alignment between CDP's questionnaire and ISSB's IFRS S2 standard is directly relevant as India's corporate sustainability disclosure environment continues to evolve, including through SEBI's BRSR framework and India's own engagement with ISSB standards. CDP's 2026 snapshot is also available, providing updated insight into the extent of disclosure against IFRS S2-aligned data points. Companies disclosing through CDP from June to September 2025 will disclose IFRS S2-aligned climate data directly to stakeholders and the wider global market.
